Brief Hiatus

Dear Beloved Readers,

I am currently studying for my Step 1 Licensing Exams. I am planning on taking the COMLEX (Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination). Therefore, I actually have an excuse to not to write a detailed post for the time being. My COMLEX date is set for June 15th. Our classes end April 30th which gives us a full month to study for this exam. For those who do not know what the COMLEX/Step 1 boards are about, this examination is tests the students knowledge gained during the first 2 years of medical school. It is a cumulative exam (duh!) and is 9 hours in length. The test is set up in 8, 50 question blocks that are timed 1 hour apiece. I get 30 mins for lunch and 30 minutes of additional "break time" throughout the test. Yes, this is going to be harder than the MCAT. However, I am genuinely more interested in the pathophysiology of hydrocephalus then I will ever be in general physics. The USMLE (allopathic Step 1 boards) are similar in that those students have 7, 50 question blocks with an 8th block which is the end of test survey. Why the difference? As an Osteopath, we have an extra 50 questions added in based specifically on Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). There are other differences between the two tests, but this is the major content difference.

So thats my reasoning for not composing blessed readers. After June 15th I will answer any questions you have and let you know how the end of my 2nd year turned out. I am very excited about my 3rd year rotations and look forward to sharing them with you along my journey to becoming a licensed and practicing physician.
